NEW SEISMIC STUDY IN SOUTHERN CALHOUN - Dominion Fine Tuning, Releases Have No Damage Clause

(01/15/2002)
By Bob Weaver

A new seismic survey is being done in southern Calhoun by Dominion, using Paragon Geophysical Services, Inc. of Wichita, Kansas. The straight line for the survey is in an area between Mud Fork and Liberty Hill on U.S. 33/119.

This current study is fine-tuning previous studies, intersecting the north-south trends.

Local landowners are being asked to sign releases to allow Paragon to come on their property. Although the company may be paying $100 for the agreement, there is no provision for damages.

The language of the agreement is non-specific, promising "Our operations will be conducted in accordance with good standard practices and careful manner," which one local landowner said is a "frightening statement" considering the historical abuse.

Local oil and gas watchers have reported the "prospecting plane" flying over the area.
