RECESSION WATCH: Clay County Mines Laying Off

A mine in Clay County at Bickmore is laying off several dozen employees, both hourly and salary. Consol Energy says it's happening at the Fola Mine Complex between the Powellton and Cherry Eagle Mine. At least 30 hourly employees and 15 salaried employees have been let go. A company spokesperson says that market conditions are to blame.
