Mabel D. Smith, 89 - Chloe

Mabel D. Smith, 89, of Chloe, West Virginia, passed away February 14, 2009 at her home.

Born July 29, 1919 in Clay County, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Bell Siers Vaughn. She was a homemaker and was a receptionist for Hackney and Lipensky attorneys at law.

Surviving are stepson, Ernest Smith and his wife Joan of St. Albans, WV; four step grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth Yost of Chloe and Geneva Snyder and her husband Paul of Akron, Ohio; her caregivers, Launa and Nolan Butler of Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest (Bud) Smith; a sister, Ruby Hensley; her brother, Paul Vaughn; and her stepmother, Anna Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 20 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV. Rev. Robert Shannon will officiate. Interment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park in Charleston, WV.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
