A WINTER DAY ON JESSE'S RUN

The Starcher homestead at the head of Jesse's Run,
and nearby log barn, the original family long gone

Jesse's Run is a small tributary off the West Fork of the Little Kanawha River, the highway runs between Liberty Hill (US 33-119) near Arnoldsburg to the West Fork, a few miles distance.

The stream, which empties into be West Fork below Alitzer, was named for one of early settler Phillip Starcher's descendants.

The highway is rocked, but often muddy when it rains, really muddy.

Long-closed Jesse's Run one-room school, also
used as a church (left) one of hundreds of still
standing stone-cut cellars with cellar tops (right)
