Alice Margaret Smith, 86 - Elizabeth

Alice Margaret Smith, 86, of Elizabeth West Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 16, 2009, from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Harvey S. and Rosa Anna Snyder Cline.

She was married for 44 years to the late Ralph H. Smith. She worked at the Shovel Plant during World War II, was a cook for many years at Wirt County High School and several diners in Elizabeth.

She was a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, Eastern Star 113 of Elizabeth, life long member of the Wirt County Emergency Squad, a member of the CEOS of Elizabeth and was the 1998 Belle of Wirt County.

She is survived by her four children, Geraldine (Russell) Bock of Vienna WV, Clifford (Barbara) Smith of Williamstown WV, Larry (Iris) Smith of Morgantown WV, and Keith (Faith) Smith of Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, Craig (Gina) Bock of Parkersburg WV, Douglas (Angela) Bock of Troutville VA, Susan (Franklin Jr.) Cooper of Davisville WV, Lisa K. Bock of Parkersburg, Lee (Kelly) Smith of Powell OH, Matt (Christi) Smith of Macon GA, Jennifer (Johnny) Nolan of Zanesville OH, and Chad (Tamara) Smith of Gladwin, MI; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Viola Gates.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Lee Williams officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and until time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
