The board unanimously approved Superintendent Propst's recommendation Monday that a student be expelled from Calhoun County Schools for the remainder of the school year.

The student must continue his education at the Alternative Learning Center evening program located at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center.

The male student is not allowed on school property during this time for any reason with the exception of the ALC.

The Ed-line system is up and running in the county, allowing parents to follow the progress of their student.

Facilities administrator Frank Tetrick told board members construction began on the Pleasant Hill Elementary School project February 9th, projected to be completed by August 14.

The board amended the school calendar, adding days, because of snow days.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Carl Ballengee made a presentation for OES. Mr. Propst will provide individual school safety plans to include floor plans to OES.

Patricia Riddle presented a Conflict of Interest Questionnaire (2007-2008).

Several new substitute teachers approved and personnel decisions were made.

Two county system elementary teachers have sought approval to retire, Johnny R. Queen at Pleasant Hill and Patricia A. Hicks at Arnoldsburg Elementary.

Steve Whited commended superintendent Propst on his job performance since being appointed, saying "My phone at home has stopped ringing."

Board members Joy Starcher and Cynthia Dale commended Propst on his job performance, while Dale requested a date for a workshop on finance in March or April for board members. Propst stated he will conduct the session.

Dale inquired about staggering lunches at the central office to be able to have someone answer phones, and asked that board members be informed of the date of OEPA Evaluation.

A special school board meeting was held last night at 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion, with two items on the agenda, a superintendent's evaluation and the approval of a Safe Schools Access Plan for the main door access for all county schools.

The next board meeting, a special meeting, is February 26 at 7 p.m. at the Arnoldsburg School.
