The Creston auction will be held Saturday, February 7 starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building.

A hearing on the surface owners rights bill will be held Sunday, February 8 at 2. P. M. before the joint judiciary committee in the House Governmental Affairs Committee Room down under the golden dome at the Mouth of the Elk.

Rev. Carlos Nutter filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church and served Holy Communion.

Creston native George Duskey, age 79, died January 24 up in Ohio. Burial was in the Western Reserve Military cemetery in Rittman.

Clarence Mills, age 92 of Brohard passed away. Clarence formerly played at the Creston sings. Someone noted that the Angel Band now had an excellent mandolin accompanist.

Clarence's grandson, M. C. "Sleepy" Mills is now working for the Labor Department down on the Potomac River.

"Fuzzy" Harris was in Creston over the weekend hauling hay.

The Creston area had more snow, freezing rain and bitter cold although by the weekend it warmed up some (at least til the next turn). The president of the Czech Republic again called Al Gore, the high priest of the global warming hoax, a charlatan who wanted to control the world using false pretenses.

The power company ran electric wire and hooked up the Loudin cabin to the grid.

Cosmo & Phu Phu, who consider themselves 'among the baddest of the bad' discovered Bambi eating the Rhododendron beside the porch and gave chase running her all of 50 feet or so the corner of the yard whereupon Bambi tried to jump the fence but missed. She turned and faced her two tormentors who acted like they were coming in "for the kill" but such was not to be. Bambi's front feet started moving at a rapid rate and one of them contacted Phu Phu's head resulting in cries of pain while Cosmo chased the DNR's pest out of the yard.

Cap'n Ed Harken who crash landed an airplane on the dePue farm back in March 1947 is looking for a Jaime Park who helped him when he wrecked.

Richard McFall was able to recover some of the items that were "borrowed" from him but then Richard had pneumatic difficulties.

Bessie & Suellen Arthur were attending to business in Elizabeth while prominent Industry citizen & taxpayer Kenneth Belt was attending to business in Brooksville & Grantsville.

The price of local Penn grade crude is $35.50/bbl while the price for natural gasoline (Mountain Hightest) is 84.8 cents/gallon. Propane was just under 70 cents/gallon while normal butane was just over 80 cents. The spot wholesale price of natural gas continues to drop but, of course, such is not reflected in heating bill. Locally lots of firewood has been burned and some have said they aim to make a significant "carbon footprint". Speaking of such just 600 private jets brought in the fat cats to the big "environmentally friendly green" inauguration party in Dee Cee the other day.

Of course the big eared one's change you can believe in complete with transparency is such, except for all her personal records which might show that he is a citizen of another nation and that he and his associates kept less than good company in Chicago.

Back when the Messiah came he was a servant to others but now it is learned that the one who calls himself the messiah had both a personal servant and a chef in Chicago. Apparently working as a "community organizer" must be lucrative. Mr. Soros's media shills continue to build images of a new Lincoln or a new Kennedy or some other myth. Perhaps comparisons to Juan Peron, Mao Tse Tung, Eva Braun's boyfriend or Robert Mugabe might be more appropriate, especially since criticism is not well tolerated.

The new head of the IRS is an admitted tax cheat but, after all it was "only" $35,000" in taxes. He was busy looking after his buddies in the fat cat banks that failed, etc. There were to be "no lobbyists" in the administration of change and that lasted for all of two days.

A few years back Thomas Jefferson said, "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Those who have been following the political scene have suggested reading Isaiah 9:14 and Matthew 15:14 as to what we may expect.

As reported earlier the postal "service" is now reporting that they plan to reduce service. The Creston area has always had excellent service although such cannot be said in many other areas and, of course, the mid level managers would have been, long ago sent packing from any outfit that had to worry about a bottom line, ethical treatment of workers, etc.

Mr. & Mrs. Bill McFee, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Jones, Alvin & Nancy Engelke attended the Farm Bureau/Forestry meeting with area legislators down at the Wood County 4-H grounds. There was a big crowd on hand.
