COUNTY WAITING FOR ADDITIONAL E-911 ADDRESSING APPROVAL

(05/11/2009)
Calhoun's E-911 Director Gary Buchanan says he is waiting on the state's E-911 Addressing and Mapping officials to approve the rest of Calhoun's addressing, so residents can be advised of their new E-911 address.

Several sections of the county have received their new E-911 address.

While Calhoun was among the first WV counties to complete the addressing and mapping and submit the project to state officials, there is a backlog waiting for approval.

Calhoun households are eligible for new E-911 markers to help identify their property for emergency responders, says Buchanan.

The Calhoun County E-911 Center, in cooperation with the county volunteer fire departments, has a program to install E-911 address number signs on county locations, using volunteer firefighters to install the signs and posts.

The signs and posts will be installed at households and businesses for a $10 donation, the donation will go to the fire departments.
