WVU EXTENSION OFFER FREE NUTRITION CLASSES

(02/03/2009)
WVU Extension Service of Calhoun County will be offering free nutrition classes at the Upper West Fork Community Action Park. This is made possible by the Family Nutrition Programs of West Virginia.

The fun classes will meet once a week on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and end at noon. They will begin February 12 and end March 26.

These classes are not only fun, but very informative and hands on. Each time the class meets; there will be hands on cooking and tasting, door prizes and free food for all participants to take home. During each class there will be physical activity demonstrations that are easy and fun.

Some of the topics to be discussed are: Food Safety, Menu Planning, Meal Stretching, Understanding the Nutrition Labels and Vitamins and Minerals. Each participant will receive many recipes and materials that will help them to make informed decisions when planning meals and doing their grocery shopping.
