'EAT YOUR HEART OUT' - Simers In Hawaii

(01/28/2009)

Burl and Jean Simers beat the winter weather
by going to Maui for Burl's 65th birthday

Burl and Jean Simers are vacationing in Hawaii, leaving Calhoun just in time to escape the "winter weather."

"The temperature was 83 degrees yesterday [Monday] and we went on a whale watch. There was a young whale that 'mugged' our boat and we couldn't leave (there has to be a 100 yard perimeter from the whales)."

"They had to call another boat to try and draw the whale away from us," said Simers.

"We drove the road to Hana and went up to the crater (over 10,000 feet) and was above the clouds for the sunrise."

"It's been a wonderful respite from the winter weather," they concluded.
