The Rev. Paul Morrison, 90, of Ravenswood, W.Va., was called home to be with the God he served and his loving wife and helpmate of 57 years, Lenamae, on Jan. 19, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Newville, W.Va., in Braxton County.

He began his ministry at the age of 21, eventually joining the United Methodist Conference where he was ordained Deacon and received his Elders license in 1956 while serving in Calhoun County.

His ministry called him to serve in Braxton, Calhoun, Roane, Jackson and Wood counties. He retired in 1983 at the age of 65 then accepted an after-retirement appointment, where he served 18 more years. He completely retired in 2002, shortly after his wife's death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenamae; his parents, Cecil and Wanda (Kniceley) Morrison; brothers, John and Buck; and sisters, Lois and Doris.

He left behind his son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Cindy Morrison of Ravenswood. He also left his granddaughter and her husband, Tammi and Jim Collins of Mineral Wells; grandson and wife, Lance and Melissa Morrison; and new great-granddaughter, Brooklyn of Ravenswood. He is survived by sisters, Betty, Lilly and Jeretta; and brother, Chuck, all of Ohio.

His kind smile and encouraging words and his love for God's work and people will be greatly missed by all. He was a man who preached his own funeral throughout his life in service of his Lord and Savior.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Sandyville United Methodist Church, Sandyville, W.Va., with Pastor Stephen Rhoades, Chuck Hascue and Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood.
