Blaine King stopped for a visit, we had coffee and he brought cat food for Delphia. We're taking care of the late Delphia Parsons cat Sissy, but I call her Delphia. She's a beautiful slick black and white cat but her meow is a little irritating at 5 a.m. Blaine is feeling better after a little bout of illness.

No electric and no phones here last Thursday. It was quiet and beautiful. I love going for walks here on Rt. 16 when there's a flood. That's when you're really out in the woods. The water coming off both sides of the hills would have made great pictures. So that's been our weather here.

My rooster and hen stayed in the apple tree out by the hog house Monday and wouldn't even come down out of the tree. I understand that a chicken has sense of the weather.

Buddy Watkins visited and played Rummy with us when everybody's electric was off. It was a good game. He brought me some fruit salad.

Bought half a beef from Stump Cattle Co. The Black Angus meat is beautiful and tasteful. Vacuum packed with no bones. I love it I appreciate doing good honest business with him. Thank you Neil, you're a nice man.

Ben, Heather and the girls spent the night with me Friday and then went to visit Heather's sister Tawni and her children Saturday afternoon and then on home to Nettie. They have to pay close attention to the wood burning furnace. Can't let it go as it will go out and they have to build it back and it also heats their water.

February is National Bird Feeding month. I read an article in Birds & Blooms by David Shaw, Fairbanks, Alaska. He says birds are everywhere. Yet no matter how familiar they may be, they are subjected to wind, rain, snow, cold predators and the trials of migration. Hold no doubt, birds are wild animals, and through them we can regain a thread of connection to their wildness.

Charles Haverty always stops by when the girls are here. He brought them cherry suckers. Ruby and Lea love them. Charles gave Lea her first sucker when she was just little.

I talked to Dora Starcher on the day the electric was off. I was worried about water and she told me to go to the water holding tank. I would have never thought of that. Also she told me to put a bucket of snow in the refrigerator to keep food from spoiling. She said she's been through everything and you learn what you need to do. I enjoy talking to her so much and am thankful for her wisdom. We always laugh.

Everyone have a wonderful week!
