Durward K. Knopp, 95 - Spencer

Durward K. Knopp, 95, of Spencer, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, in the Miletree Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.

He was born October 1, 1913, in Roane County, a son of the late Clyde Otho and Rena Grace Board Knopp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Knopp.

He was a retired welder. Also, he was the owner-operator of Knopp's Garage for 31 years. He had attended the Mt. Zion Community Church and the Clarence Community Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Starcher of Spencer; two sons, Butch Knopp of Sandyville and Howard Knopp of Leon; two sisters, Mabel Sue Whited of Barberton, OH and Emma Lou Matheny of Ripley; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Community Church, Gay, with the Rev. Donald Hinzman officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the church.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
