TEEN FEST 2009 STARTS SUNDAY - Meet The World's Strongest Redneck

Once again the time has come to start planning our annual teen retreat known as Teen Fest. Scheduled for January 18 and 19. The Calhoun County Park Barn will be the setting for this 16 church non-denominational event.

This year, however, will be held with one big twist. And big is the appropriate description in this case. The message will be delivered by "The World's Strongest Redneck." That title belongs to Steve McGranahan. Appearing weekly on television's Country Fried Videos, Mister McGranahan will bring his unique form of evangelism to Calhoun County to help our teens understand the merits of following God. Joining him will be the contemporary gospel rock band Last Years Model hailing from Fairmont.

This year we are in dire need of committed volunteer help.

Assistance is needed for event set-up, chaperoning overnight, small group mentors, crafts, and clean up.

All meals, as well as supplies, are being donated by local churches. Meaning we could use a little assistance during meal time as well.

Teen Fest was developed as a safe haven for our teenagers by providing a worry free environment for worship, fellowship, and discovery. There are no requirements to attend Teen Fest. It doesn't matter what church you attend. The same holds true if you attend no church at all.

This is a 24 hour event. It begins at 3 p.m. on January 18 and ends at 3 p.m. on the 19th. There are several new twists and surprises so you might want to consider staying overnight. As a matter of fact it's encouraged.

If this is what you'd like to do you need to bring a sleeping bag or blanket as well as a pillow. Everyone spending the night will need to fill out an Emergency Treatment Form. You can do that when you arrive. However, we encourage doing it early because in order for you to spend the night you must have a parent or guardian sign it. This also helps the staff be better prepared for the expected amount of people.

To get a form you can ask your Pastor for one or you can contact Mary Zimmer at 304-354-6012, or Dave Trippett at 304-354-9341. So plan on going. Plan on rejoicing, receiving, laughing, and learning.
