MORE WV SOLDIERS LEAVE FOR "QUIET" WAR

(01/05/2009)
More West Virginia soldiers left for the Iraq War effort this past weekend, joining the several thousand from the Mountain State that have already been deployed.

Even though mainstream media rarely reports on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the deployment will matter to the families of the the 332nd Ordnance Battalion located near Huntington.

Families braced themselves last Friday for what promises to be a year long effort.

"I'm not so worried about myself, I'm really worried about my wife and how she's going to take care of our five children," said SFC Craig Anderson.

The 332nd Ordinance Battalion will be part of deployment and re-deployment operations in Kuwait.

They'll help make sure soldiers coming into the Middle East are properly trained for the mission ahead.

Press accounts indicate between 8,000-10,000 WV National Guard and reservists have been to Iraq.
