Wow. Behind schedule again. But, if you know me at all, this is not unusual. I am never on time for anything. I feel sure I will be late for my own funeral. You will find me (or my "spirit") trying to find a bon voyage ensemble that won't make me look fat. Of course, I would also be searching for cool shoes. Ok, enough chat about death.

How was your Christmas? Ours was a little tighter this year. Non-Toyota paychecks don't go very far. Bless Kmart for continuing their layaway plan. I am not too proud to say I use layaway if it's available. In fact, I will shout it from the rooftop if necessary. There are many people who have this 'tude about people who use the program. I don't understand it. They act like we are a different breed of people.

Well, yeah, I guess we are different. We are those who work and have mortgages, utilities and car payments. Anyway, next year I plan on purchasing boxes, paper and bubble wrap. It seems my kids had more fun with that stuff than the actual contents of the box. So, I guess it was a successful redneck Christmas. My Mom got to come over for a little while on Christmas morning. Santa had left her some presents at my house too.

I guess Santa figures Grandmas can never have too many nightgowns and boxes of chocolates. I found the "A Christmas Story" board game at Rite Aid in Grantsville. I gave it to my brothers as the story reminds them of their younger years. My oldest brother plans on making this game a tradition when we all get together for Thanksgiving. So, I will need to brush up on my A Christmas Story trivia before November.

The Little Rebel Wrestling team has been rockin' the wrestling world. They practice really hard three times a week at the Harrisville Elementary School. A lot of the little guys have some trophies to prove their efforts have paid off. I got to watch Avery practice on Tuesday night and I was really impressed. (I'm not biased of course!) The thing about Avery is he has the right disposition to wrestle well. He does not and will not take any poop from anybody. (Hmmm. He may get that from me; draw your own conclusions on that one.) Now, if I could just get him to take that attitude to the mat at a tournament. Crowds really make him nervous and I have no clue how to break him of that. He doesn't have any crowd issues during baseball season, so, I don't understand it. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please let me know. I would love to see Avery have his day in the sun. I would like to thank all the coaches for their encouragement and instruction with all of our little guys, not just mine. Even though mine can be quite the handful on his own.

How will you ring in 2009? I don't have any plans, just going to hang out with the small fry. I might catch some of Dick Clark's New Years Eve thing he does every year. But, I am sure I will have to fight the kids for the TV. It will be difficult for them to give up reruns of MASH. I would never tell my kids that I have seen some of the episodes when they were first aired. They already think I am ancient because I saw the original Star Wars at the movie theatre in 1977.

Speaking of old, they did a 40 year flashback on the radio today. They were featuring music from 1968 (apparently a very good year). Supposedly, Merle Haggard was released from prison in 1968 and did the song "Mama Tried". I don't know if that has some freaky correlation with the year I blessed the world and the stressful time I gave my Mom. Anyway, that is my song of the week.

In closing, I would like to wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2009. If you celebrate, please keep us all safe and don't drink and drive.
