UNINSURED MOTORISTS DOUBLED IN 2008 - Owners Dropping Coverage Because Of Economy

(12/30/2008)
The number of uninsured motorists has doubled in the USA during the past year.

The increase in not insuring vehicles is directly related to the collapse of the economy, with Americans seeking ways to cut spending.

Now, one-out-of-five US motorists are driving without insurance.

Auto insurance premiums have increased by 6 or 7 percent this year.

The Insurance Research Council, a group funded by the insurance industry, is expected to release a study next month showing that drivers dropped their insurance in 2008, because of the economy and jobless rate.
