FORMER ROANE MAN CHARGED WITH NEGLECTFUL DEATH

(12/26/2008)
A former Roane County resident has been charged with neglect following the death of an elderly man in his care.

Authorities say Michael Wayne Fox, 48, of Mineral Wells, was arrested for neglecting an incapacitated adult, describing the deceased man as a "not fully functional adult and was borderline mentally retarded."

The deceased man is Robert Earl Buck, 74.

Buck had apparently been living at Fox's residence four years.

Buck had been living in the basement. The complaint says his death was reported 12 hours after it occurred, with Fox moving Buck's body to an upstairs bedroom, attempting to clean the remains.

"The defendant placed the victim's body in an upstairs bedroom on a bed with the intent to deceive investigators as to where the victim was found deceased," according to the complaint.
