CALHOUN MAN ARRESTED FOR DRIVE-BY SHOOTING

(12/22/2008)
A Calhoun man, Matthew David Jeffery, 25, has been arrested for wanton endangerment, obstructing an officer and destruction of property, according to Central Regional Jail.

Jeffery allegedly fired shots into a mobile home last March, in what was reported to be a drive-by shooting.

The shots struck a mobile home occupied by Perry Richards, adjacent Rt. 16 at Cabot Station, a short distance from Grantsville.

Reports said shots went into his dwelling and a nearby parked car.

Richards reported at the time he felt an individual who had a conflict with his teenage son earlier in the evening over a girlfriend was the likely shooter.

In 2007, Jeffery was involved in a shooting incident on Yellow Creek following a squabble between he and his brother Brian Keith Burrows.

Jeffery was accused of shooting a .22 caliber long rifle numerous times at Burrows after he exited a truck in which they were riding.

Jeffrey was charged with malicious wounding, assault, and wanton endangerment with a firearm.
