They said Dawn Denise Withrow, 35, of Elkview was nearby with a gunshot wound to her upper right chest.

Deputies ordered Newhouse to drop the gun and they took him into custody.

Withrow was taken to Charleston Area Medical in satisfactory condition.

Authorities said Sheryl Summers intervened and pulled out a .22-caliber pistol to stop Newhouse, but he allegedly slammed her onto the ground and banged her hand against a pole until she dropped the gun.

Police said that after Kidd got out of his truck, Diehl, 54, allegedly struck him in the head with the nunchucks.

Kidd told police he then threw Diehl to the ground and took the nunchucks from him. Diehl then went into his residence and obtained a pump style shotgun, returned outside and fired three shots at Kidd, who was not struck.

Police said Kidd then ran around his trailer and went into the house of another neighbor.

As a result of the shots fired, a window in a neighbor's home and the windshield of a vehicle cracked.

Police said the incident was part of an ongoing argument.
