Junior tailback Randy Fluharty was named to the West Virginia Sports Writers Class A All-State team.

Fluharty, who was also an all-LKC selection, was one of three Red Devils honored with all-state mention but he was the only first team member, as Danny Slider was a second team selection as a defensive lineman and Jeremy Conley was an honorable mention as a linebacker.

Both Slider and Conley were all-LKC picks as were Nick Stevens and Chris Mace, although neither Mace nor Stevens receive any all-state mention.

Fluharty led Calhoun and the Mid-Ohio Valley region and was second in the state in rushing with 2,039 yards. He also had 21 touchdowns for the Red Devils. Fluharty is a junior.

He kept the Red Devils' streak of all-state players alive. Last season Nick Whytsell and Jeff Goodrich were first team all-state performers.

The year before Paul Goodrich was all-state on both offense and defense, which is a rarity.

Calhoun's football team went 7-4 this season and made the playoffs before being eliminated in the first round by Weirton Madonna.
