FREE FAMILY CAREGIVER TRAINING OFFERED

(12/19/2008)
Through the generosity of The Ross Foundation, in partnership with the Northern WV Rural Health Education Center, the Health and Safety staff of the Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is excited to offer Family Caregiver Training in your county at no charge to participants!

The purpose of this granted project is to provide a certified Red Cross instructor to teach standard first aid training with optional certification for 3 years FREE of charge to the UNPAID family caregiver or anyone else interested.

Upon completion of the 2 ½ to 3 hour class, participants will receive a home study version of the American Red Cross' Family Care Giving Program with accompanying DVD, a personal first aid kit, workbook, and a first aid skills card that will assist participants in their caregiver duties.

The items outlined in the take home materials include information on home safety, personal care, body mechanics, and legal financial issues, care giving skills, healthy eating, and caring for the caregiver.

We are eager to bring this program to you and hope that you will take advantage of this free training program. The Red Cross will be holding a class in your area on January 5, 2009 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., lunch included, at the Gilmer County Senior Center in Glenville.

Please feel free to contact the American Red Cross at 304-485-7311 or the Northern West Virginia Rural Health Education Center at 304-462-6465 to register.
