The fourth 2008-2009 Saturday Fun and Learning Day sponsored by Heads Up, GEAR UP and the Parent-Educator Resource Center was held Saturday, December 6th at Calhoun Middle-High School.

After breakfast was served to all participants, the children and parents were separated with the parents receiving training from Phyllis Malona, Vice President, Calhoun Banks about Identify Theft.

When the parents and children were reunited, they completed Christmas crafts and each child visited Santa and got their picture taken and Santa gave each child a candy cane and a McDonald's gift card.

Afterward everyone enjoyed a great Christmas dinner catered by the Calhoun Middle School Athletic Boosters.

There were over 250 individuals in attendance on Saturday with the following parents winning door prizes, Mary Templon - Ceramic Christmas Figurine donated by GEAR UP; Kelly Whytsell, Santa Cookie Jar donated by GEAR UP, and the winners of $20 Pit Stop Gift Cards donated by Heads Up were, Melissa Keener, Phillip Keener, Ada Overbaugh and Lori Wagoner.

The next Saturday Fun Day will be January 10th at Calhoun Middle-High School.

Parents and children who attend five of the eight sessions are eligible for a trip May 30, 2009 to Kennywood Park. If you have questions - contact Jean Simers, Heads Up Coordinator at 354-7595.
