RECESSION WATCH: WV Toyota Plant Cutting Back

(12/12/2008)
A Toyota official announced this week that the company will cut back production at its West Virginia engine and transmission plant.

Toyoto's sales are down 34 percent.

The plant's vice president for manufacturing, Jeff Moore, says Toyota is adding at least six non-production days a month at the Buffalo plant.

Moore says full-time employees will not be laid off and the company will use the non-production days for training.

The cutbacks come as Toyota tries to weather the economic downturn.
