Dormal Spencer Coe Rhodes, 86, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Monday, December 8, 2008, in the Miletree Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.

She was born June 10, 1922, at Chloe, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Elber and Icy Jarvis Spencer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jerold F. Coe in 1978 and Elmer Rhodes in 1996; two sisters, Justine Harris and Joy Deweese.

During World War II, Dormal worked in Akron, Ohio, as one of the “Rosie the Riveters.” She retired from Kellwood Corp., Spencer after 35 years of service.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George and Patty Coe of Leroy, WV; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Mark Williams of Wesley Chapel, FL; two sisters, Wanda Nutter of Spencer and Dorlene Walker of Ravenswood, WV; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Smith Epling officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
