HOMER E. HIVELY - Parkersburg

Homer E. Hively, 86, of Parkersburg, WV, died December 20, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg after a sudden illness.

He was born July 18, 1915, at Egypt Ridge, Roane County, the youngest of 15 children born to the late Edward W. and Alberta Rogers Hively. He was retired from Laborers Union Local 1085 as a morter mixer and was the oldest living active member with 56 years of service. He was a veteran of the National Guard and the U.S. Navy during World War II, having served in Europe and North Africa.

He is survived by two daughters, Lorette Fette of Conyers, Georiga., and Rebecca Hersman of Parkersburg, with whom he planned to make his home; three sons, William Hively of Belmont, WV, Timothy Hively of Ohio and David Hively of Parkersburg; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Hively; two sons, Edward and Larry Hively; and one grandson Timothy.

Service well be held 2:00 p.m. today at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial in the Egypt Ridge Cemetery. Family requests donations to the Parkersburg Humane Society, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
