Pastor Ernest Nicholas, 82 - Spencer

Pastor Ernest Nicholas, 82, of Spencer, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 6, 2008, from his home, after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Simon and Emma Etta Cottrell Nicholas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie Marks Nicholas; son, Paul Nicholas; daughter, Imogene Britton; an infant daughter; sisters, Maxine Wilson and Marie Taylor. Ernest was a retired sawyer and Pastor of the Stoney Point New Hope Community Church, Altizer. Survivors include his wife, Norma (Rose) Nicholas; stepchildren, Sharon and David Nicholas, Karen and George Hickman, Robin and Mitch Dobbins, Kevin and Ronda Rose, Roberta Noggle and Jarrett B. Rose; brother, Denver Nicholas; three sisters, Maysel Monroe, Murl Nash and Ermal Jean Rogers; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, 16 step grandchildren and 17 step great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Stoney Point New Hope Community Church, Altizer, with Pastors Garry Bowen and Neal Brock officiating. Burial will be in the Nicholas Cemetery, Bear Run, Calhoun County. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the funeral service on Monday. John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
