10 YEARS AGO: CALHOUN BANK ROBBED - Cash Taken From Arnoldsburg Branch, Suspects Caught On Video Surveillance

(12/07/2018)

Police converge at Arnoldsburg branch
of Calhoun Banks following robbery

9:00 12/05/2018 PM - Police are looking for two male suspects who robbed the Calhoun Banks branch office at Arnoldsburg Friday evening.

The bank called Calhoun 911 at 4 p.m. to report the heist, indicating the men implied they had a weapon, but did not brandish it.

They reportedly got away with cash, the amount is yet to be disclosed by authorities.

Before robbing the bank, one of the suspects stopped at Speedy Mart, a convenience store next door, and inquired about the price of cigarettes.

The suspect left the store without making a purchase, according to the clerk, indicating the robbery happened a short time later.

The suspects have been caught by video cameras positioned at the bank and the convenience store.

They left the scene in a 1989 two-tone blue Ford Econoline van, reportedly headed north toward Grantsville on Route 16.

State Police from Calhoun, Roane and Ritchie responded to the scene, with members of the Calhoun Sheriff's Department.

Police went to an area near the Victory Baptist Church at 7 p.m., just south of Grantsville on State Rt. 16, after a report said a man was spotted meeting a description of one of the suspects.

There are no reports of arrests.

A search of historical records indicates this is the first bank robbery in the county since its' inception in 1856.

One of the suspects reportedly went into Speedy Mart
requesting the price of cigarettes, before robbing the bank
