GARNARD E. HAROLD - Reedy

Garnard E. Harold, 71, of Reedy, WV, departed this life December 19, 2001.

He was born March 10, 1930, in Newton, WV, one of three sons born to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth Lloyd Harold of Newton.

He was an honored member of the United States Marines, with one year served during the Korean War, in which he received a bronze star for bravery in service on the front line, one year served in active duty in the United States and also on stand-by reserves for six years. He was an accomplished carpenter for more than 20 years. He retired 13 years ago as maintenance supervisor at Spencer State Hospital with 17 years service.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Vonda Cottrell Harold; one son, Calvin E. Harold and his wife, Marie of Williamstown, WV; one grandson, Shaun Harold of Williamstown; one granddaughter, Julie Harold of Huntington, WV.; and one brother, Noble Harold of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jewel Harold of Spencer, WV.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home of Spencer. Rev. John Looney officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Spencer. Visiting hours are from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
