MAN STABBED IN CHARLESTON - A man was stabbed and slashed yesterday on Leon Sullivan Way in Charleston, near the men's shelter.

Police say Timothy Pearson will be charged with malicious wounding after stabbing Timothy Ward.

Police say the men were in a verbal altercation, then Pearson was walking down the block, screaming that Ward struck him in the face.

Pearson stabbed Ward several times.

Police quickly cordoned off the scene with yellow tape as paramedics treated the victim in the street.

RALEIGH SHOOTING - The Raleigh County Sheriff's Department is investigating a Thursday shooting in Shady Spring.

Police say they responded to a fight call when they found a car hit by gunfire.

Christopher Palmer, a passenger in the car had been hit in the back of the head. He's in stable condition at Raleigh General Hospital.

Detectives say 20-year-old Cameron Taylor has admitted shooting at the car.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING - Billy Gene Thompson, 41, of Williamson, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police for DUI, brandishing a weapon, wanton endangerment, obstructing an officer and discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling charges.

Officers responded to a call about shots being fired at the Speedway station in West Logan.

"Upon arrival in the area, these officers were advised of a location of the suspect vehicle, a black Cadillac Escalade with Virginia registration...These officers located the vehicle parked at Justice Addition and observed a male driver behind the wheel. These officers gave verbal commands for the driver to show his hands. The accused ignored the verbal commands several times and forced this officer to keep repeating the commands. These officers were able to safely get the accused out of the vehicle and into custody without further incident," the report said.

They discovered a loaded silver 9mm pistol laying in the grass beside the vehicle.
