BIG TREES BEING HARVESTED FROM BARR WOODS

(11/19/2008)

Dale "Windy" Cooper stands beside a northern red oak 50+
inches in diameter, some trees producing 1500 board feet

Some of the area's biggest trees are being harvested by Carpenter Logging near Grantsville in the Barr Woods, a 350-acre tract.

The Barr family, among the county's early settlers, once lived along the Little Kanawha River near the Grantsville town limits.

The tract rests between Rt. 7, Russett Road and Phillips Run, Rt. 16.
