The Creston area received both rain and snow over the weekend. The rain was badly needed but too late for pasture fields. Streams had been very low. One of Albert Gore Jr.'s buddies reported that October was the hottest on record until someone noted that some of the data was reused September figures and actually large numbers of records for snow and cold temperatures were set for the month. Such is not surprising, as the earth has been cooling for some time now.

The deer have been thick and some have been taking on vehicles on the roadway. A large group of turkey buzzards were down on the dePue straight feasting on venison over the weekend. There are several nice trophy bucks that haven't been harvested by the bow hunters or the "shootem after dark crowd."

Rev. Carlos Nutter brought the message at the Burning Springs M. E. church.

Nancy Hall has been on the sick list and Eva G. Pennington was consulting with her cancer doctor.

Roger Patterson fetched back to Creston a chariot that died along the roadway.

Tommy Gay Wright cut a bunch of poplar trees on his land and had Bruce Allen do some 'dozer work.

Little Black Magic is much improved after a consultation with Dr. Cain.

Local cooks have been busy getting recipes for the new Creston cookbook.

P. E. Graham had been on he sick list but is now on the mend.

Area residents learned that, as a result of the new 911 addresses, all vehicle registrations and licenses must be changed with DMV or else big fines will be levied. Some presumed the cash from the fines would be used to buy more fancy paper so the Big Boss could have more bogus degrees printed out for family and friends at his little university up on the Monongahela River.

While some have been busy saying "the oil and gas boom is over" it seems that such is far from the case. Exterra has been looking for leases and has a crew working in Wood County while other courthouses continue to have abstractors for both leases and new pipeline rights-of-way.

Chesapeake has announced 3-D seismic projects in Marshall & Wetzel Counties to the north, Mingo & Wayne Counties to the south and, of course, the Rainbow prospect in Roane & Jackson Counties.

Exco/North Coast announced that they would be drilling more horizontal wells in northern Jackson County, not far from the Wirt County line while both CBM and horizontal Marcellus wells continue to be permitted in various counties. Triana permitted some "shallow" 7,000' shale wells in Nicholas County and Chesapeake is going ahead with their proposed 22,443' well in Roane County, another Trenton/Black river well in addition to a horizontal well in the Huron shale.

Chesapeake announced the sale of 600.000 acres of their Marcellus holdings to Statoil-Hydro for $5,666/acre. Statoil is part of the government of the Kingdom of Norway. The cost of the total package is $3.4 billion. Chesapeake stated that by the end of 2009 they would have 15 rigs drilling Marcellus wells.

The price of local Penn grade crude fell to $50.75 and gasoline in the Parkersburg area dropped to below $1.90/gallon.

One outfit who paid up on a class action suit for improperly deducting serverance taxes from royalty owners sent out a division order which said the company could deduct taxes and other operating costs from the royalty. One should never, ever sign such without first making out the offending language.

While timber prices are not very good it seems that a lot of logs are being moved about.

The Communist party has been ecstatic over the national election & Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground now admits to his long relationship with Barry Hussein. Joe the Plumber, it is now learned, was investigated (albeit illegally) by six different agencies of the government in Ohio. This, apparently, is a message that one does not dissent for the full force of the government will be brought down on you. The first amendment is only for the elite, it would seem.

The proposed internal security force becomes much more scary, especially when some say that those who oppose should be sent to the gulags. Out in the land of fruits and nuts, churches have been targeted for opposing programs that are condemned in the Bible.

Some have been laying in food, fearful of the uncertain economic times and political talk that would make the recession change into a depression. Others have been stocking up on ammunition as "the Messiah" has, in the past, been very much opposed to the second amendment.

While all this is going on in America, China is preparing for war and since they have kissed and made up with Russia, it shouldn't be too hard to determine who they plan to take over. Presently the control the Panama Canal that little Bobby Byrd gave away and they plan to drill for oil between Cuba and Florida as the lefties in Congress won't let American companies drill there. As one fellow said, "We live in interesting times."
