John L. Epling, 65, of Gandeeville, WV, died December 16, 2001, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, WV.

He was born September 17, 1936, at Looneyville, WV, a son of the late Theodore and Grace Smith Epling. He was retired from National Standard Co. of Akron, Ohio and formerly worked as a millwright for Diebold in Wooster, Ohio. He was a member of the Roane County Emergency Squad.

Mr. Epling is survived by three daughters, Donna Heatherly of akron, Ohio, Lora Ann Harmon of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Juanita Blair of Spencer; one son, Allen Epling of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Jessie Smith of Magadore, Ohio and Rita Allen of Norwich, Ohio; two brothers, George M. Epling of Zanesville, Ohio and Mack Webb of New Philadelphia, Ohio; five grandsons and four granddaughters. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 20, 2001 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home of Spencer, with Reverend Leon Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Epling Chapel Cemetery near Loonyville. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
