"WE RAN OUT OF WATER" - Frozencamp House Burns To Ground

(11/14/2008)
The plight of fighting fire in rural West Virginia - "We ran out of water."

Ripley Fire Chief Rick Gobble said his men had made a pretty good stop on a blaze at Frozencamp (US 33 Spencer-Ripley) before their water supply ran out.

Destroyed, the Hackney family residence.

A tanker bringing more water broke down on Route 33 and by the time Southern Jackson County Fire Department and Cottageville Fire Departments arrived, the dwelling and its contents had been engulfed.

Firemen were on the scene for some four hours.

No one was home at the time the fire broke out.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
