A Chloe, Calhoun woman has been arrested on child neglect and domestic battery charges related to a July incident involving her five-year-old grandson.

Rose Marie Jarvis, 44, has been released from Central Regional Jail on $12,000 bond.

Jarvis allegedly struck the child, after she apparently connected him with the death of a family dog.

The police complaint says Cpl. Jeff Hunt and Probation Officer Patsy McCartney, while visiting the Jarvis residence, observed that Jamie Dawn Jarvis' son "had extreme bruising on both the right and left side of his face."

The report says the officers questioned the youth about who had done this to him. He responded "Grandma."

In a written statement, Rose Jarvis' daughter said, "her son had come inside the Walker Road residence...when she traveled outdoors to look for a miniature Pincher, a family pet that had not returned with the child, she discovered it dead underneath the back porch..."

When Jamie Jarvis "returned inside the residence her son had injuries to his face," she further stated her mother said she "didn't mean to hit him that hard."
