WV SHOULD EXPECT 10,000 JOB LOSS IN 2009

A new analysis by a national research firm says West Virginia is experiencing an economic recession with a loss of as many as 10,000 jobs lost by the end of next year.

Moody's Economy.com says a total of 30 state economies are in recession, with another 19 teetering.

"It has kind of migrated from Wall Street to Main Street, as they often say," said Andrew Glendhill, an economist.

Job creation is flat in the Mountain State, says Moodys.

Most of the losses will be concentrated in the retail and construction industries.

WalMart is the state's largest employer.
