Della Moorehead Dawson, 100, of Big Springs, Calhoun County, died December 12, 2001 at
Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Grantsville, WV, following a long illness.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and quilting.
She was born, August 12, 1901 at Yellow Creek, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late
George and Jerusha Adams Moorehead.
Surviving Mrs. Dawson are four sons, Cecil (Jack) Dawson and Larry Dawson both of
Grantsville, Donald Dawson of Cleveland, Ohio and Lanny Dawson of Millstone, WV; two
daughters, Georgia Smith of Cleveland and Deloris (Boots) Richards of Big Springs with whom
she had resided; 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil H. Dawson in 1983, a son, Jesse Eugene
Dawson; a daughter, Janice Whipkey; 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 granddaughters and 2 great
grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home,
Grantsville. Reverends Larry Jones and Mary Zimmer will officiate. Interment will be in the
Taylor Cemetery, Big Bend, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
