MORE ATV'S STOLEN IN CALHOUN - Property Crimes Unconfirmed By State Police

(10/21/2008)
Crimes continue in Calhoun, none of which are confirmed by the Grantsville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Visiting Ohio residents reported two four-wheelers stolen from their parked vehicle at Big Springs overnight.

A 1997 Ford F-250 with tools and tank was reported stolen this morning, apparently on Rt. 5 between Grantsville and Glenville.

The crime spree, related to ATVs alone, could involve as many as 35-40 vehicles, according to word-of-mouth reports.

Sgt. Jeff Skidmore and South Charleston officials of the State Police denied a Freedom of Information Request by the Herald to confirm the number of stolen vehicles and other property crimes occurring in the county.

Grantsville Police Chief Charles Stephens confirmed there has been an incident at Grantsville's laundromat, indicating either missing money or other items.

Stephens says the investigation is continuing.
