Scottie "Chip" Westfall (Democrat) has been elected to a six year term as a Calhoun commissioner.

Westfall defeated his opponent 1,357 to Republican candidate Lyle Kerby's 997.

Westfall said "I do not have any hidden agendas nor have I allied myself with any special interests. I believe that Calhoun County government should be open, honest and accessible to all of the people of the county."

The candidate traveled the county, visiting and speaking with citizens, attending commission meetings.

Westfall has a BA degree in health and physical education from Glenville State College and a Masters degree from Marshall University.

For the past thirty years, Westfall has been a health and physical education teacher at Arnoldsburg School.

Kerby made a commitment to donate his $24,500 salary to county fire departments and said he would establish scholarship funds for county students.

"I am gainfully self-employed, so as a gesture to help locally, I am going to donate the commissioner's salary," he said.
