FIRST, HIT WITH SHOVEL - A Kanawha County man has been charged with malicious wounding after he allegedly hit another man over the head with a shovel and then stabbed him in the back.

Police say Richard B. Gilmore, 20, of Charleston, got into an argument with the victim, who police did not name.

The argument escalated into a fight that ended with the victim shoving a juvenile and then being struck over the head and stabbed two times in the lower back, police said.

FOUR STABBED AT WEST LIBERTY - A fight in West Liberty early Sunday left five people with injuries.

Four received stab wounds.

Ohio County Chief Deputy Pat Butler said one stabbing victim was sent to the hospital by life-flight, but is expected to survive. The other three people stabbed were treated and released.

Butler said deputies have interviewed, "persons of interest."

A man who lives across the street said there were as many as 50 people on Route 88 during the incident.

Butler said those involved were between the ages of 19 and 22.

GAMBLING PLACE HAS HOLD-UP - A woman robbed Kelly's Hot Spot in South Charleston Saturday night and got away with a thousand dollars.

Police say the female suspect had a weapon and demanded money from the clerk.

Police say the woman had been playing the machines all evening. She went into the bathroom and came out with a gun.
