Pernice Brooks "P.B." Steele, Jr., 62, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed from this life, Wednesday, October 15, 2008, in Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after a long battle with leukemia.

"P.B." was born April 5, 1946, in Spencer, a son of the late Pernice Brooks and Dulcie Earline Phillips Steele. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Gloria Steele; and a sister, Maxine Blosser.

He was a retired service rig operator for Gas Search Corporation. He was also a former employee of Key Energy and Carper Well Service.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Steele of Seth; daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Scott Myers of Spencer; stepsons and daughters-in-law, James and Angie Harper of Reedy Tim and Tonia Harper of Spencer; stepdaughters and son-in-law, Sherry Newsome of St. Albans, Dawn and Brad Bradley of Seth and Tracy Burdette of Seth; 14 grandchildren; uncle and aunt, Junior and Maxine Steele of Hartville, Ohio; stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, October 18. There will be no service. Burial will be in the Slate Cemetery, Spencer.
