While a major telephone outage struck the county Monday evening, authorities answered a number of calls, mostly domestic in nature. At 6:27 p.m. police responded to a call for assistance in the Sugar Camp-Leading Creek area, the caller said someone is "shooting up the house," with Cpl. Jeff Hunt and Grantsville Police Chief Charles Stephens responding to the call. At 6:30 a 911 caller reported "a bleeding man" at Grantsville Manor, with reports saying the man had earlier been in a fight on Main Street. Hunt and Stephens responded. Earlier in the evening there was a report of a hit and run by a vehicle, reportedly striking a parked car in front of Main St. Café in Grantsville. Authorities were given a license number of the vehicle, which apparently fled town quickly.< A female on Big Run reported problems with her ex-boyfriend, asking for police protection, indicating he might have a concealed weapon.
