GSC HAS PAINFUL LOSS TO SETON HILL 34-29 - Looks to Avenge Defeat Thursday

It was a roller-coaster end to a game that looked like it was a Pioneer victory until late in the fourth quarter.

The Glenville State College Pioneers scored first and led by 20-9 early in the third period.

Powerhouse running back Jerry Seymour scored one
touchdown against Seton Hill. He broke the GSC single
game rushing record gaining 257 yards on 25 carries.

Alex Amick a triple of 3-pointers during the game contributing nine from the field, plus added two additional points on kicks after a first quarter Jared Dearing touchdown run, followed by another after a third quarter Jerry Seymour touchdown.

Late in the third period Seton Hill closed the gap to five. One of Amick's field goals increased the GSC lead to eight.

At just past the halfway mark of the last period, Seton Hill took the lead for the first time, 28-23.

Antwan Steward scored on a 53-yard James McCants pass; a two-point conversion failed giving the Pioneers a one-point advantage 29-28 with just over 5-minutes left in the game.

Seton Hill scored with just over three minutes remaining, then failed on a two-point conversion effort making the final score 34-29.


It was a tough day for GSC head coach Alan Fiddler (left) as he watched the GSC lead whittled away.

Statistically GSC outdistanced their opponent offensively 539 yards on 62 plays vs 478 on 75. Net rushing yards for GSC was 298 vs 211.

Seton Hill outdistanced GSC in the air with a 22 completions on 32 attempts for a 68.7-percent average for 267 yards. GSC hit on 12 for 22 for a 54.5 completion average gaining 241 yards.

The Pioneers record stands at 2-2, 1-1 in conference play.

GSC meets Fairmont Thursday evening at I.L. Morris Stadium. Kick-off time is 7 p.m.
