Oh, what it is to be a free bird. We got to see Lynyrd Skynyrd on Saturday night. We had an awesome time and the music was amazing. They are still great after all their years in the business. I saw a bunch of teenyboppers at the stadium and I wanted to inform them that Lynyrd Skynyrd was what music really is. I don't really know what the kids call what they are listening to today. I have a four letter word for it, but it would be censored I feel sure.

There was a Pirates game prior to the concert. We didn't quite see all the game due us trying to be the next Elizabeth Arden before we left. The parking was a nightmare and we ended up hiking several miles to the stadium. (It wasn't really; it just seemed like it after the Big Mac Attack we had on the way up) After the event was over, walking back to the car was interesting. We saw a lot of things we don't normally see (at least in public) in our little county. For example, I am pretty sure it was "Working Women's Saturday" in Pittsburgh. I was so happy that my children did not witness this career choice. I would have a lot of 'splainin to do and I am not ready to cover that subject. Let me get through the run-of-the-mill birds, bees, flowers and trees discussion first.

I am not going to say much about the ballgames on Friday night. I don't want to put a knot in anyone's tail. (I know you're asking yourself, "When did that ever stop her before?") But, I will say I was disappointed. I don't think there was the same amount of effort as last week. I could be wrong (not usually, but I guess I could be this time). It just appeared that way to me. I wish both teams better luck next time.

Ritchie County High School Homecoming is on October 3rd. I believe the dance is on October 4th. We entered Avery in the "contest" to be crown bearer. I am sure he won't assume the position. I have found one must meet certain requirements before winning a pageant. I am certain my family doesn't have the proper qualifications. Avery couldn't care less anyway. Although, I feel sure he would make an effort to be the life of the party. I thought he might be able to relax some of the nervous Homecoming court. But, quite frankly, kids don't need those kinds of things to feel like they're somebody. Avery thinks he's all that to start with. (Not sure where he gets that 'tude from).

Do you ever read Viewpoint in the Parkersburg paper? I love to read them because I appreciate people who are straight up and stand up for what they believe in. However, it does bother me when they don't check their spelling and other grammatical errors. As the reader, I begin to lose faith in the writer's view because they didn't care enough to use the handy dandy spell check. If the writer didn't take time to use this gift from God, did they take the time to review their article carefully? I always check my spelling and if I have a fragment here and there it is usually intentional. I'm blonde, so therefore, full sentences are often traumatic for me.

"Sweet Home Alabama" is my choice for the week. I guess I am still in the Skynyrd state of mind.

Peace of mind and happiness to us all.
