ARNOLDSBURG'S JUNIOR MORRIS 41ST MOLASSES FEST PARADE MARSHAL - "He's Rang The Church Bell 50 Years"

(09/26/2008)

Seventy-four-year-old Arnoldsburg resident Junior Morris will be the Parade Marshal for the 41st West Virginia Molasses Festival this Saturday.

Morris, the son of the late Dessie Wilford, is well-known to the Arnoldsburg community to which he moved when he was nine.

He has risen early on Sunday morning for over 50 years to attend the Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church, where his official duty has been to ring the church bell at 9:30 a.m. sharp.

"He's a loyal and devoted man," said his sister Janet Rhodes, with whom he makes his home. He has a brother living in the community, Tommy Wilford, and a brother deceased.

Arnoldsburg resident Marvin Arnold says "Junior has traveled thousands of miles on his bike, up and down US 33," more often than not riding his bike to church.

"He has always had a certain time for everything in his life, and is dedicated to what he does," concluded Arnold.
