Bernice Laughlin, 83 - Arnoldsburg

Bernice Laughlin, 83, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, passed away September 2, 2008 at Worthington Manor in Parkersburg, WV.

She was born in Calhoun County and was a daughter of the late Grover and Stella Metheney Houchin. She was a member of the Beech United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, pie baking, gardening and canning.

Surviving are her children, Larry and Bonnie Laughlin, Gary and Rita Laughlin, Charles Laughlin, and Vickie Laughlin all of Arnoldsburg, Ronnie and Tara Laughlin of Grantsville, Mary Lou and Edward Reed of Glenville; a brother, Grover Houchin, Jr. of Minnora; three sisters, Opal Jett and Ellen Marie McKown both of Arnoldsburg, and Madge McKown of Minnora.

Her grandchildren are, Laura Shreckengost, Leila Gregory, Jennifer Kerby, Ashley Reed, Scott Laughlin, Tara Miller, Chas Laughlin, Cheri Laughlin, Adam Lane, Sara Richards, and Dakota Laughlin; great grandchildren are, Tasha Shreckengost, Levi Gregory, Lexi Gregory, Logan McKown, Kiera McKown, Mattea Miller, Lana Laughlin, Cole Lane, Allie Lane, and Hayden Richards.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonzo Laughlin; 2 brothers, Clyde and Forest Houchin; 2 sisters, Ruth Simmons, Eula Kerns; and 2 infant children; and a daughter-in-law, Sheila Laughlin.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, September 7 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Rev. Roger carter will officiate. Interment will be in the Houchin Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
