Lucretia Smith Yoak - Spencer

Lucretia Smith Yoak, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away peacefully to meet her Lord on August 30, 2008.

She was born July 28, 1924 in Calhoun County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oral Smith and Cecil Elliot Smith; her brothers, Carl and O.D. Smith, her husband of 61 years, E. Don Yoak; her daughter, Donna Yoak Hardman; and infant son, Kenneth.

She is survived by her sisters, Leta Bennet and Ann Duskey, and by her son, Denzel. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Lucretia was a graduate of Calhoun High School and graduated from Glenville State College. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Spencer. She worked tirelessly for the Arts and Humanities of Spencer, lending her talents to scenery and costumes for their many plays. Her paintings and needlework will be treasured by her family and friends. Delicate crocheted ornaments will always grace our Christmas tree and be preserved and cherished.

Services will be held at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, WV, Thursday, September 4. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Eventide Cemetery in Spencer.

Memorial donations may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church in Spencer or to Alzheimer's Research.
