BOARD APPROVES MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND - Concerns Expressed Over Water Leaks

MINUTES REGULAR MEETING CALHOUN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION DECEMBER 3, 2001

STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA: COUNTY OF CALHOUN: At the Office of the Superintendent, Grantville, West Virginia; Monday, December 3, 2001

MEMBERS PRESENT: Juanita Berdine, Ralph Cunningham, Richard Fitzwater, Carlene Frederick, and Burl Simers Ronald Blankenship, Secretary
ABSENT: None

The meeting was called to order by President, Richard Fitzwater at 7:00 p.m.

MINUTES:

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the minutes of the November 13, 2001 meeting be approved. Motion carried unanimously.

An expulsion hearing for student 2001-02/02 was conducted in open session. Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the Board convene in executive session at 7:31 p.m. for the purpose of discussion. Motion carried unanimously.

Mrs. Berdine moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the Board reconvene in regular session at 7:50 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that student 2001-02/02 be expelled for one calendar year. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the Board convene in executive session for the purpose of an expulsion hearing for student 2001-02/03 at 7:54 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Berdine seconded that the Board reconvene in regular session at 8:21 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Berdine seconded that student 2001-02/03 be expelled for one calendar year. Motion carried unanimously.

REPORTS:

Mrs. Frederick reported on the November 14, 2001 RESA meeting.

Mr. Cunningham reported on the November 15, 2001 Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center Administrative Council meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mrs. Frederick moved and Mr. Cunningham seconded that the following new business be approved as presented:

Upon the Superintendent's recommendation, Mrs. Frederick moved and Mrs. Berdine seconded that the following matters be approved:

2. Basic Computer Operations and an Introduction to Programming - Calhoun- Gilmer Career Center (Lights On)
3. Basic Computer Repair and Troubleshooting - Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center (Lights On)
4. Creating a CD Library - Calhoun Middle/High School (Lights On)

B. Employment

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the following financial matters be approved:

Motion carried unanimously.

BOARD CONCERNS:

Committee of 55 Legislative Proposal
Calhoun Middle/High School water leak

ADJOURNMENT:

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the meeting adjourn at 9:02 p.m. with the next meeting December 17, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Arnoldsburg School. Motion carried unanimously.
