CHARTER CABLE RATES RISING - Residents Complain About Poor Service

(12/04/2001)
Charter Communications is advising Grantsville area residents they will be increasing basic cable rates by $1.95 a month, effective with January billing. The new basic rate will now be $34.25.

The company advised the Calhoun Commission that the FCC allows cable TV operators to increase pricing to "reflect certain increases in external costs and programming changes."

Grantsville cable users frequently complain about problems with low quality pictures and sub-standard service provided by the cable company.

The Calhoun Commission, considering the complaints, has directed a letter to the company stating such concerns.
