I am happy that Jerry Jones brought my rooster a mate. I guess he's happy but I don't see her much so far. The pigs are growing and they loved the peeling from the tomatoes.

To avoid the cold, and scarcity of food when the flowers stop blooming and insects stop flying, hummingbirds go south. The peak of the migration is late August and early September when the bird is fat enough, it migrates. It's not necessary to take down feeders to force them to leave. If you remove your feeders, birds will feed elsewhere, but may not bother to return to your yard the next year. It is recommended to continue to maintain feeders until freezing becomes a problem.

The creek is low here and the small streams are dry. I like this weather, it has given everyone a break from mowing the yard. But Dog Days this summer was great. The garden is doing well and the late corn is beautiful.

I enjoyed the week-end with friends and we went to the Elk River. The river is also low. As I made my way to the other side where the water was deep enough to swim I slipped on a slick rock and now have a bruised bottom. But that's OK I love swimming the river.

Every on have a wonderful week!
